West Virginia SNAP recipients in all 55 counties have until Aug. 10, 2026, to report food lost during severe storms that began July 21. Eligible households can request replacement benefits through their local DoHS office or by calling 1-877-716-1212.

North Buckhannon Riverfront Park and Jawbone Park will remain closed for at least 30 days for sanitization following last month’s flooding. Other parks and the Riverwalk Trail remain open. Upshur County’s registered sanitarian is also working to get restaurants, hotels back open.
The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur reported that its foundation flood relief fund had collected $51,789 as of Aug. 4. Local officials are working with community agencies to determine how the funds can be used most effectively.
Disaster Unemployment Assistance is available to eligible Lewis and Upshur County workers, including the self-employed, affected by the July 21–22 storms and flooding. Claims must be filed with WorkForce West Virginia by Oct. 2, 2026.
Buckhannon and Upshur County officials are determining how to use flood relief funds while urging residents to put out debris immediately. Donations and volunteers are being redirected to Lewis County as recovery efforts continue.

Low-interest SBA disaster loans are available to West Virginia businesses, nonprofits and residents affected by severe weather July 21–22. Eligible applicants can receive funds for repairs, personal property and working capital, with terms up to 30 years.
The Fred W. Eberle Technical Center Administrative Council will meet in regular session at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The meeting will be held at the center at 208 Morton Avenue in Buckhannon.
