Vandalia Health’s Mobile Mammo Unit will offer walk-in screenings Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Buckhannon Medical Care. Women 40 and older who meet eligibility guidelines can receive fast, confidential breast cancer screening without an appointment.

Upshur County 4-H and FFA exhibitors showcased a year of work at the 2026 Youth Livestock Show and Sale. Eli DeGarmo earned Overall Showman, Lindy Wagoner took reserve showman and grand champions were named across eight project categories.

Civil & Environmental Consultants told Upshur County officials that a bad subgrade at the tennis courts will cost an additional $84,000 to fix. Lighting and bleachers will also be cut from the project, despite having already been ordered and received.

FEMA staff will soon visit Upshur County to help July flood victims apply for federal aid. Assistance may include housing grants, home repairs and loans, with details on timing and locations still pending.

Stonewall Resort will host An Evening of Hope at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 to aid flood recovery in Lewis and Upshur counties. The $75 benefit includes a reception, dinner and entertainment, with all admission fees supporting flood victims.
