Upshur County Youth Soccer is registering U4-U14 players of all experience levels for its fall 2026 season through July 31. Practices begin in mid-August and volunteers are also needed to coach, referee and support the league.

Nearly 400 swimmers will converge on Upshur County as the Buckhannon Splashers host the 2026 NCWV Summer Swim League Championships. The two-day meet begins Friday at Upshur County Recreational Park.

Upshur County Summer Basketball League closed Week Two with three days of Buccaneer and Bobcat Division action at WVWC. The regular season ends this week, with the postseason tournament tipping off Friday.

Buckhannon Post 7 opens the Area 2 double-elimination tournament Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Doddridge at Bridgeport High School. Despite a 1-12 record, Post 7 hopes clean defense, effective pitching and timely hits can spark a postseason run.

Week two of the Upshur County Summer Basketball League featured two busy nights at West Virginia Wesleyan. Wendling’s Food Service and WV Split Rail delivered standout wins, led by Mike Walker and David Shriver.

Upshur County’s July 13-19 sports calendar features Buckhannon Post 7 baseball, local basketball and golf action, and the Splashers hosting the NCWV Swim Championships. No events are scheduled Sunday.

Point Park University will become a full NCAA Division II member Sept. 1, 2026, after completing its transition a year early. The milestone brings postseason eligibility and greater recruiting, visibility and awards opportunities.

Summer Basketball League finished week one Thursday with three Buccaneer Division games, led by TKS Contracting’s 61–50 win over Sam’s Pizza and Wendling’s 75–53 rout of Buffalo Wild Wings. Friday’s Bobcat Division games were postponed and rescheduled for Monday, July 6.
