BUCKHANNON – Early voting in Upshur County ends Saturday, Oct. 31, ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
Upshur County Clerk Carol Smith said 1,749 people had voted early through Oct. 29 and 195 more came in Oct. 30. The last day to vote early is Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Upshur County Courthouse from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Upshur County Clerk’s Office also mailed out 117 absentee ballots.
“It’s definitely been busier than May, but not quite as busy as the general election of 2024, and I think we had a little over 2,000 early voters in 2022,” Smith said. “I want to remind everyone that Precinct 18 will be voting in a different room at the Vo-Tech School; there will be signs up directing people. And everyone who usually votes at Rock Cave Elementary School will still vote there for this election.”
Smith’s office announced earlier that Precinct 18 was temporarily relocated because of ongoing renovations at Fred Eberle Technical Center.
Upshur County had 4,843 early voters in the 2024 general election.
Polls are open on Election Day, Nov. 3, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and sample ballots are available on the county clerk’s tab of the county website.
Smith also asked voters to remember to bring a photo ID to the polls and not to wear any election merchandise like hats or shirts. Voters can call the Upshur County Clerk’s Office to verify their precinct location or check their registration status at 304-472-1068.
