Wesleyan lacrosse falls to Notre Dame, 26-6

BUCKHANNON — West Virginia Wesleyan College dropped its second consecutive conference matchup, falling 26-6 to visiting Notre Dame College (OH) at Cebe Ross Field, Saturday.

After four unanswered goals by four different Falcon players to start the first quarter, the Lady Bobcats’ Noelle Fuller scored her seventh of the season at 8:58 to pull Wesleyan to 4-1. But Notre Dame pummeled the net, finding open spaces in the Lady Bobcat defense to rack up eight more goals before Talia Berardo logged Wesleyan’s second goal at 9:36 in the second quarter.

Notre Dame took a 17-2 halftime lead into the third quarter and continued to dismantle the Lady Bobcat defense. Wesleyan’s Makenzi Lewellyn, Erin Mobley and Berardo capitalized on rare attempts but the Falcons could not be stopped.

Leading the Falcons were Grace Nickoloff with seven goals and four assists on 11 shots, Gwen Bogash with four goals and one assist, and Jovie Noack with four goals and two assists.

Wesleyan hosts University of Charleston in a MEC matchup Thursday, Apr. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
