BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Following the conclusion of the 2024 regular season on Sunday afternoon, the Mountain East Conference announced the seeds and opening round matchups for this week’s MEC Softball Tournament, which is set for May 1-4 at Botetourt Sports Complex in Troutville, Virginia.
 
Fairmont State earned the No. 1 seed in the MEC North with a 22-6 league record, winning the division’s regular season championship for the second year in a row. Frostburg State went 20-8 during MEC play to earn the division’s No. 2 seed, while Notre Dame (14-14) and West Liberty (11-17) are seeded third and fourth, respectively.
 
In the south, Charleston repeated as the regular season division champion with a record of 27-3 in league play. Glenville State is seeded second in the south with a record of 17-13, while Davis & Elkins (14-16) and Concord (13-17) are seeded third and fourth, respectively.
 
Wednesday’s opening round games are now set. At 5:30 p.m., Charleston will take on West Liberty and Frostburg State will battle Davis & Elkins. In the 8 p.m. nightcaps, Glenville State meets Notre Dame in one matchup, while Fairmont State opens tournament play against Concord on the opposite field.
