Bucs continue to remain eighth in WVSACA Boys’ Basketball poll

Buckhannon-Upshur stayed No. 8 in Class AAAA in the Week 11 WVSACA boys basketball poll after a 1-1 week, falling to No. 4 Bridgeport before beating Preston. The 13-7 Bucs close the regular season with No. 2 Morgantown at home Wednesday and rival Lewis County on Friday.

Wesleyan women get upset on the road by Yellow Jackets, 66-61

West Virginia Wesleyan erased a 23-point hole but fell 66-61 at West Virginia State after Imani Hickman’s late dagger three. Emma Witt posted 24 points and 10 rebounds, while Hickman led the Yellow Jackets with 22 as Wesleyan dropped to 16-6 (13-5 MEC).

Basketball ‘Cats lose high-scoring affair to West Virginia State, 103-99

West Virginia Wesleyan’s men’s basketball team lit up the scoreboard but fell 103-99 at West Virginia State in a back-and-forth MEC shootout. Curtis Litton scored 22 and nearly tied it late, but a buzzer-beating three missed as the Yellow Jackets held on.

Baseball ‘Cats begin 2026 with 0-3 record in weekend series with Thomas More

West Virginia Wesleyan opened the 2026 season with an 0-3 nonconference series at Thomas More, dropping Friday’s doubleheader and Saturday’s 5-2 finale. The Bobcats showed late fight and flashes at the plate, but big Saints innings and timely insurance runs sealed the sweep.

Wesleyan softball drops three at Glenville State tourney to open season

West Virginia Wesleyan opened the season at the Glenville State tourney with three hard-fought losses to Gannon, Seton Hill and Bowie State. The Lady Bobcats led Gannon 7-2 before a seven-run fifth flipped a 9-7 loss, then fell 5-0 and 4-2 despite solid pitching and timely hits.

Litton has 26 but ‘Cats tumble at home to UC, 89-72

Curtis Litton poured in 26 points and six threes, but Wesleyan fell 89-72 to University of Charleston at home in MEC play. Charleston’s balanced scoring and dominance in the paint (40-16) plus points off turnovers (27-6) proved decisive as the Bobcats’ rallies were answered.

Wesleyan women rally in fourth to outlast Charleston in 76-73 win

West Wesleyan survived nine lead changes and seven ties, then erupted in the fourth quarter to beat Charleston 76-73 and stay second in the MEC at 16-5 (13-4). Ana Young and Kilah Dandridge scored 19 apiece as the Lady Bobcats shot 64.3% in the final frame to seal it.

WVSSAC approves girls wrestling for 2026-27 season

WVSSAC has approved girls wrestling as a preliminary sanctioned sport starting in 2026-27, creating an official girls-only state championship with regional qualifiers separate from the boys tournament.
