Track and Field Lady Bucs run first at small weekly home meet
Buckhannon-Upshur’s Lady Bucs won seven events and edged Lewis County 65-64 to take a four-team home meet Tuesday. Ella Whitehair doubled in the 800 and 1600, and the Lady Bucs also swept two relays ahead of Tucker County and Tygarts Valley.
Track and field Bucs win four-team midweek home meet
Buckhannon-Upshur boys track and field rolled to a midweek home meet win, taking eight events and scoring 99.5 points to top Tucker County, Lewis County and Tygarts Valley. Mason Conway won the 1600 and 3200, and the Bucs swept three relays.
Lacrosse Bucs have best offensive outing of the year in 22-4 road win over Preston
Buckhannon-Upshur exploded for a season-high 22 goals in a dominant 22-4 road win over Preston, jumping to a 15-1 lead after one quarter. Jackson Richards scored five, 11 players found the net, and the Bucs outshot the Knights 51-8 to even their record at 4-4.
Moss has four goals to lead Lady Bucs past Morgantown, 9-8
Mallory Moss poured in four goals and an assist as Buckhannon-Upshur edged Morgantown 9-8, leading 6-4 at halftime and holding on late. Brianna Howes added three goals, Josie Rosencrance made 10 saves, and the Lady Bucs won their fifth straight to improve to 5-1.
Buccaneer tennis team falls in clashes with Bridgeport and Lewis County
Buckhannon-Upshur battled but fell 7-0 at Bridgeport and 6-1 to Lewis County in Big 10 play. Jeremiah Jeffries earned the lone win with an 8-4 No. 1 singles victory, as the Bucs slipped to 3-8 overall (3-4 conference).

Buckhannon-Upshur fell 6-1 to Bridgeport and 6-1 to Lewis County, but got bright spots from Claire Small’s 8-6 win at No. 1 singles and Madi Cutright’s 8-6 victory at No. 4. The Lady Bucs also showed promise in doubles as the young lineup continues to gain varsity experience.

Buckhannon-Upshur rolled Fairmont Senior 16-2 behind 10 hits, seven Polar Bears errors and Becca Pastorius’ eight strikeouts. Shorthanded Saturday, the Lady Bucs battled George Washington to the final out but lost 5-4 on a walk-off error, snapping a five-game streak.
Tennis Lady Bucs struggle on road trip at John Marshall and Wheeling Park
Claire Small’s 8-5 win at No. 1 singles was the lone bright spot as Buckhannon-Upshur fell 6-1 at John Marshall, with a near upset in No. 3 doubles. The Lady Bucs were then swept 7-0 by a strong Wheeling Park squad, leaving them 1-8 heading into a busy week.
