B-U’s Carlyle wins long jump at Big 10 Conference Track and Field Championships
Wesleyan second baseman Grant Shumaker earned All-MEC honorable mention as the league announced its 2026 postseason baseball honors ahead of the conference championship.
Buckhannon-Upshur placed in all five relay events at the Big 10 Conference Championships, led by a fifth-place 4×200 and top individual finishes from Greyson Wyland (4th shot put) and Shayden Rogers (5th long jump).
Buckhannon-Upshur opened the postseason with a dominant 15-3 win over John Marshall, led by Zack Simmons’ four goals and two assists as seven Bucs scored. Now 9-4, the Bucs host Mountain State Saturday at noon after winning the regular-season matchup 15-6.
Wesley Dee “Fuzz” Farrar, 84, of Helvetia, died on May 6, 2026, at Nella’s at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Elkins, WV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming.
Barry Wayne Beckner, 45, of Buckhannon, WV, died May 5, 2026, at his home. He was a former rig hand in the oil and gas industry and is survived by his children and family.
