Wesleyan softball gets shutout of MEC postseason honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — On the eve of the 2026 Mountain East Conference Softball Championship, the league announced its all-conference team and individual award-winners.

Frostburg State’s Arden Miller was voted as the 2026 MEC Softball Player of the Year. Charleston’s Addison Mass was named the 2026 Softball Pitcher of the Year. Fairmont State’s Bella Hess took home the 2026 Softball Defensive Player of the Year, a new award in 2026. Charleston’s Cali Masters was voted the 2026 Softball Freshman of the Year. The 2026 MEC Softball Coach of the Year went to Frostburg State’s Guy Robertson.

Miller, a senior from Newbury Park, California, had a .359 batting average with 55 hits, and nine home runs this season. She also tallied 50 RBIs and had a .647 slugging average. She also helped the Bobcats earn the No. 2 seed in the north in the MEC Softball Tournament with a 34-14 overall record and 17-11 in league play.

Mass, a senior from Belleville, Illinois, had a 1.31 ERA this season and went 24-3 on the mound. She pitched 187.1 innings allowing just 35 earned runs with 233 strikeouts. She also helped lead the Golden Eagles to a share of the MEC South Division title and earn the No. 1 seed in the south in the MEC Softball Tournament. Charleston went 42-14 overall and 24-6 in league play.

Hess, a senior from Washington, Pennsylvania, had a 1.000 fielding percentage this season. She had 76 putouts while also posting a .438 batting average. She had 71 hits and 16 RBIs this season. She helped lead the Falcons to a North Division title and the No. 1 seed in the south in the MEC Softball Tournament. Fairmont State went 35-11 and 23-5 in league play.

Masters, a freshman pitcher from Belmont, West Virginia, had a 2.08 ERA while going 14-5 on the mound. She pitched 131.1 innings this season with 165 strikeouts, and allowing just 39 earned runs.

Robertson, a native of Westminster, Maryland, is in his first season as the head coach of the Bobcats. In year one, he led the Bobcats to a 34-14 overall record and 17-11 in league play. Frostburg State will enter the 2026 MEC Softball Tournament as the No. 2 seed in the north.

The teams were determined via a vote of the league’s 11 head coaches.
