JV Lady Bucs drop 42-27 decision to Lewis County

WESTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Lady Bucs were competitive but still came up short in a 42-27 defeat to the Lewis County Minutemaids Tuesday evening.

The Lady Bucs trailed by just an 8-5 margin after one quarter with Gracie Gerwig launching in a trey and Taylor Feather a basket.

The Lady Bucs didn’t have a field goal in the second quarter, relying on two free throws from Kylie Hull, and one free throw each from Martina Moto and Feather.

That left them down by a 20-9 score at the break.

Buckhannon-Upshur had their best offensive showing in the third quarter with 10 points as Gerwig had three points, Makenzie Egress put in three points and Feather and Hull each had two.

B-U went into the final quarter down by a 29-19 score.

The Lady Bucs lost the fourth quarter by a 13-8 count with Egress scoring all eight points.

Kyra Vinson led Lewis County with 14 points.

Egress paced the B-U offense with 11 points.

The loss dropped the Lady Bucs to 0-13 on the year.

They will be back on the court Thursday hosting Elkins at 5:45 p.m.
