Strong relay performances powered Buckhannon-Upshur to a third-place finish (99 points) in a nine-team meet at Philip Barbour, with four relay squads taking second. Greyson Wyland led the individual efforts with a 39-5.25 shot put as the Bucs notched 21 personal records.
Kynnedy Marple fired a complete game with 11 strikeouts as Buckhannon-Upshur rolled past Oak Hill 7-1 on the road. The Lady Bucs jumped out early, got big hits from Marple and Maddie Tucker, and improved to 10-5.
Buckhannon-Upshur’s girls lacrosse attack stayed red-hot, rolling past John Marshall 21-1 behind goals from nine different Lady Bucs. Chloe Bennett and Grace Moreland scored four each as B-U dominated 36-5 in shots on goal to improve to 4-1.
Buckhannon-Upshur lacrosse split a pair of road games, falling 20-6 to unbeaten Morgantown before bouncing back with a 15-6 win over Mountain State. Tobias Marple paced the Bucs in both games, and keeper Gage Scott totaled 22 saves as B-U moved to 3-4.
Buckhannon-Upshur split Big 10 matches this week, falling 4-3 at East Fairmont after adjusting to the plastic courts before bouncing back with a dominant 6-1 win over Fairmont Senior.
