After a fairly dry spring, storms settled into the area over the past week, dumping heavy rain at times. City officials said the downpours briefly flooded part of town before draining away just as quickly.
Buckhannon’s fireworks rules are narrower than many residents think: because July 4 falls on a Saturday this year, fireworks are only permitted inside city limits from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Independence Day itself. The rule helps protect pets, veterans and others sensitive to noise.
