Obituary Dana Fisher

Dana Ray Fisher, 91, of Crawford, the Cow Run Community died on Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Holbrook Health Care where he had been a resident since May 2020.  He was born on March 25, 1929, in Braxton County a son of the late James Thomas and Icie Mae Ware Fisher.

He was preceded in death on June 17, 2017, by his wife of fifty-six years Lillie M. Robinson Fisher.  In addition to his parents and his wife he was also preceded in death by one son David McCartney, one grandson Joe Riffle, four brothers: Howard Fisher, William “Bill” Fisher, James Fisher, and John Fisher; sisters; Rella Hinkle, Francis Slaughter, and twin sister Lena Mae Fisher; sons-in-law Pat Hagans and Mark Riffle, Sr.

He is survived by three daughters:  Kay Riffle, Linda Hagans and Leona Groves; two sons:  Dana McDowell and James McCartney; daughter-in-law Jennie McCartney; grandsons:  Mike and wife Stephanie Riffle, Mark Riffle, Kevin McCartney, Eric and Kevin McDowell; granddaughters:  Dee Dee and husband Shane Myers, Christin Riffle, Toni Cutright, Tiffany Adkins, Kitty Riley, and Robin McQuain; several great grandchildren; one sister Pearl Jordan; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fisher worked as a coal miner at Wolf Creek Mines until his retirement.  Many knew him as always willing to help and welcome you into his home with open arms. 

Graveside services and burial were on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Fisher Family Cemetery in Braxton County with Rev. Cecil Williams officiating.
