Lacrosse Bucs fall in debut to Morgantown, 14-2

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur boy’s lacrosse team opened their 2023 campaign at home Wednesday with the Morgantown Mohigans at Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.

The Bucs dropped a 14-2 decision as the Mohigans stymied the B-U offense most of the outing.

Buckhannon-Upshur hung close in the first quarter down just 3-1 and they trailed by a 9-2 score at the half.

The Bucs failed to score in the second half.

Tucker Hatfied and Justin Streets each had a goal for the Bucs.

The Bucs only managed nine shots-on-goal while Morgantown peppered the B-U net 37 times.

B-U goalie Remmy Bonnett made 23 saves.

Kaleb Roby led the Bucs with 11 ground balls while Jeremy Streets had 11 as the team had a total of 49.

The Bucs were guilty of just three fouls while Morgantown was called for 11.

The Bucs (0-1) will be back in action Saturday when they host John Marshall at 7:30 p.m.
