WVWC’s Berardo named MEC Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT – West Virginia Wesleyan’s Talia Berardo has been named the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Marissa Cuevas of Davis & Elkins has been voted the MEC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

The MEC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Berardo, a freshman from Poughquag, New York, helped the Lady Bobcats go 1-1 this week. Berardo had eight goals and three assists on 18 shots in a 20-9 victory over the University of the District of Columbia. She also tallied five goals and an assist against Virginia State.

Cuevas, a senior from Farmingville, New York, helped the Senators earn a 14-6 win over Westminster last week. Against WC, Cuevas picked up her seventh victory of the season by collecting 15 saves with a .714 save percentage. With her performance in goal, she helped Davis & Elkins set a new program record for longest win streak (7 games). This is Cuevas’ third Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
