WVWC indoor track and field teams compete at Kent State

KENT, Ohio – The West Virginia Wesleyan track & field teams participated in the Doug Raymond Qualifier on Friday and Saturday inside Kent State Athletics Fieldhouse. The two-day event was the final meet before the Mountain East Conference Championships next week.

Day One
 
On the women’s side, Brady Browning got the events started clearing 3.04 meters in the pole vault. Then, Aubrey Wiethe and Lauren Colbert finished back-to-back in the 60-meter hurdles running 9.84 and 9.86, respectively.
 
Faith Gandy ran 25.90 in the 200 dash posting the fastest time out of all Division II competitors. Ny’Tierra Hobbs crossed the finish line with a time of 26.39 to round out day one events.
 
Evan Pyles had an impressive showing in the 5000-meter run posting a final time of 15:30.77 and giving him fourth place in the event. Tanner Faulkiner posted a finishing time of 22.24 in the 200 dash to give him fifth.

Day Two

Both teams had strong showings inside the Kent State Fieldhouse highlighted by Tanner Faulkiner’s performance in the 60-meter finals.
 
On the men’s side, Faulkiner had the best finish from any Bobcat competitor when he took second in the 60-meter finals. Faulkiner ran 6.86 in the event.
 
Scott Soucier ran 50.90 in the 400-meter while Justin Mcintyre ran 51.49 in the same event. Kenneth Okoye took home eighth place in the high jump finals clearing 1.90m in the event.
 
On the women’s side, Faith Gandy took home a top-5 finish in the 60-meter finals. Gandy ran 7.68 in the event and finished fourth. Aubrey Wiethe ran 1:03.79 in the 400-meters. Additionally, Leigha Hall ran 12:34.32 in the 3000-meter.
 
Up Next
The Bobcats and Lady Bobcats head to Huntington to run in the Mountain East Conference championships Friday and Saturday at Marshall University.
