WESTON — Two men are charged with grand larceny after about $21,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen from the Walmart Supercenter in Weston during flood-related cleanup work, according to the West Virginia State Police.
Trooper J.E. Coffman of the Weston detachment responded to the reported theft Sunday, July 26. Coffman learned that Walmart had hired an outside contractor, JCSA Services, to perform flood-related cleanup at the store, and that the jewelry was taken from a secured jewelry display case during the cleanup, State Police said.
Deivis Diaz, 23, and Daniel Ramirez, 27, were arrested and charged with grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony.
Oscar Hernandez, 37, was also arrested during the course of the investigation and charged with petit larceny in connection with a separate theft.
Investigators recovered a portion of the stolen jewelry during the arrests, according to State Police.
All three men were determined to be in the United States unlawfully and were placed on ICE detainers, State Police said. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been notified and is expected to initiate removal proceedings.
The investigation is ongoing.
