WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital hosted an ‘Exploring Healthcare Careers’ Day for high school students

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — WVU Medicine St. Joseph’s Hospital hosted “Exploring Healthcare Careers” day for juniors and seniors from Buckhannon Upshur High School.

Students had an opportunity to meet professionals throughout the hospital and ask questions to each. Staff gave presentations, hands-on demonstrations, and information on schools that offer these professional programs. Areas they visited included Respiratory Therapy and Cardiopulmonary, Imaging, Laboratory, Pharmacy, EVS, Security and Safety, Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Human Resources, Peri-Operative Services, and the team with HealthNet Aeromedical Services.

Students walked away with more insight on how it “takes a village” to run a hospital efficiently and effectively.
