Waneta Mae Hamner, 95, of Gaines, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family.
It is with great sadness we express the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandma. She was born in Goshen, on November 3, 1930, a daughter of the late Roy Edward Gregory and Vernie Gay Friend Gregory.
On November 27, 1947, she married French Lloyd Hamner, spending 56 years together until his passing on June 14, 2003. With her parents and husband, she is greeted in Heaven by six sons: French Lloyd Hamner, Jr., Frank Hamner, Phillip Hamner, Michael John Hamner, Paul Eric Hamner, and Steven Mark Hamner; two daughters: Minnie Mae Hamner and Julia Rose Hamner; all of her siblings: Edward, Dennis, Hubert, Ronald, and Lee Roy Gregory, and Wilda Bowman.
Forever cherishing their memories of Waneta are her sons: Rick Hamner, Allen Hamner and companion, Sherrie Friend, and Stan Hamner; daughters: Melva L. Teter and Lisa Faye Perrine and husband, Richard; eight grandchildren: Greg, Tim, Heather, Vickie, Samantha, Danielle, Junior, and Natasha; nine great-grandchildren: Nathan, William, Ashley, McKala, Kandis, Kaitlin, Caroline, Charlotte, and Katherine; and several nieces and nephews.
Mom was a homemaker in every sense of the word. She spent her life taking care of her family. She was happy when everyone was around.
Waneta’s request for cremation has taken place, and a graveside service for Mom, Julia, Paul, and Steve will take place at a later date.
