Buckhannon City Council renewed its street-paving contract with West Virginia Paving on July 2. Rising petroleum prices could have pushed the city’s cost up about $2.50 a ton, Public Works Director Ethan Crosten said.

Norman Howard Helmick, 56, of Buckhannon, WV, died on July 8, 2026, at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was a former truck driver and well tender.
