WVDOT seeking public input on Statewide Transportation Improvement Program

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Department of Transportation is hosting a series of public workshops for residents to review information on future federal transportation funding and projects for the upcoming six-year period and to comment on the draft Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.

The workshops run from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, at the WVU Transportation Center, 1112 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown; from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the West Virginia Division of Highways headquarters, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard East, Building 5, Room 164, Charleston; and during a virtual public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 8. The workshops give the public a venue to ask questions and discuss the programs established in the draft STIP with the project team.

The WVDOT is seeking public input to help guide the future of transportation in West Virginia. WVDOT staff have developed a draft of the upcoming six-year STIP covering federal fiscal years 2027 through 2032. The draft identifies planned programs and project investments over the six-year period to fund the operation, preservation, rehabilitation and expansion of West Virginia’s highway and transit assets statewide with the revenue that is estimated to be available.

Each time the STIP is updated, the public is given the opportunity to participate in the transportation planning process. This public workshop will initiate the official 45-day public comment period for the adoption of the draft 2027-2032 STIP. The public is encouraged to provide comments on the published STIP material located at the link above. The 45-day public comment period will conclude on Friday, August 21.
