The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Tuesday that 3,071 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in the Mountain State. That’s a decrease of 88 since the last report.
Locally, reported active case totals are: Upshur (46), Barbour (25), Lewis (22), Randolph (35) and Webster (26) counties. In Upshur County, that’s a decrease of two active cases in the last 24 hours.
Six additional deaths have been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 85-year old female from Raleigh County, a 93-year old male from Marshall County, a 39-year old male from Jackson County, a 71-year old male from Mercer County, a 69-year old female from Roane County, and an 83-year old male from Kanawha County.
“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of July 26, 2022, there are currently 3,071 active COVID-19 cases statewide. There have been six deaths reported since the last report, with a total of 7,129 deaths attributed to COVID-19,” according to a press release.
About 320 residents are hospitalized with the virus, with 44 currently in intensive care and 12 on a ventilator. The daily percent positive was 30.81%.
About 55% of the state has been vaccinated for COVID-19.
