West Milford to host Old Mill & Float the Fork Festival on June 2-3, 2023

WEST MILFORD, WV – The charming town of West Milford, West Virginia is thrilled to announce that the annual Old Mill & Float the Fork Festival will be held as a two-day celebration this year. Celebrate National Trails Day 2023 and the 75.4-mile West Fork River Water Trail in the historic area known as “Island Ford” on June 2-3, 2023.

Nestled in the heart of West Virginia, West Milford is renowned for its historic charm, beautiful landscapes, and friendly community. The town is a hidden gem that offers a unique blend of small-town hospitality and natural beauty, making it the perfect location for the festival.

This year, the Old Mill & Float the Fork Festival will take place at “The Island,” the new park area on Mill Street, adding to West Milford’s rich tapestry of history and nature. This location, historically significant for being the original 10-acre tract owned by town founder Jessie Lowther, was once a crucial passage for river traffic before the Old Mill was established.

The two-day festival kicks off on Friday, June 2, with an evening of live music from 4 pm to 8 pm. Food trucks, arts and crafts vendors, and local artisans will be on hand to add to the festivities. Appalachian Boarding Company will also be providing a water safety course during this time.

The main event, the Float the Fork, will take place on Saturday, June 3. Participants can register at the following link: https://floatthefork.ezfacility.com/login. The float will start at Good Hope, covering a 6-mile stretch to West Milford.

Participants should expect a 2-3 hour float filled with fun and excitement. Registration and transportation to the launch site will begin at 8 am and continue as needed. The launch from the Good Hope site will commence at 10 am.

Upon completion, participants and spectators will be greeted by food trucks, live entertainment, games, inflatables and an array of vendors.

The Old Mill & Float the Fork Festival will not only be a celebration of West Milford’s history and natural beauty but also a community event for all ages. Join us for a weekend of fun, adventure, and community spirit in the heart of West Virginia.
