The Upshur County Commission and the Upshur County Youth Camp Board are accepting applications for a full-time caretaker of the Youth Camp facility in Selbyville — a live-in position that comes with a residence on the property, provided free of charge along with all utilities except internet.
The opening is immediate. The caretaker is responsible for scheduling and overseeing camps, taking in revenue and making deposits, promoting use of the property, keeping up the buildings and grounds, running the dining facilities, communicating and interacting effectively and suitably with adult and child campers, and other duties as assigned.
Applicants must be capable of working independently. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in carpentry, general maintenance and repair, plumbing, electrical, mechanical work and groundskeeping.

About the camp
The Upshur County Youth Camp sits at 76 Youth Camp Road in Selbyville, on county-owned ground overseen by the County Commission and the Youth Camp Board. Along with summer camp sessions and youth programming, the facility is available for private rental, and it has picked up a series of upgrades over the past several years — among them an archery range and open-air pavilion on a green space that was once a tar pit, and an outdoor cooking station.
