BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Five Mountain East Conference athletes will compete in this week’s NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event will be held May 21-23 in Emporia, Kansas, at Welch Stadium. Emporia State University will serve as the host of the championships.

A pair of men’s student-athletes and a trio of women’s student-athletes qualified for the NCAA championships: Charleston’s Mathew Meli, Colette Patti and Mia Huber; Glenville State’s Janae Scott; and West Virginia Wesleyan’s Michael Hansford.

For each individual event contested, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. The top 16 declared relay teams (one per institution) were accepted, and for the heptathlon and decathlon, the top 16 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.
