Roger Lee McAtee, age 72, of Buckhannon, WV, died Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.
He was born January 25, 1954, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Forest McCutcheon McAtee and Virginia Doris Blankenship McAtee.
On November 8, 1985, he married Mildred Ann Crawford of Weston, WV, who survives; two daughters, Jenny Lynn McAtee and Michelle McAtee and partner Raymond Tinney, all of Buckhannon; one grandson, Logan Perrine of Buckhannon; four siblings, Dwanda Hewitt of Buckhannon, Cutch McAtee and wife Anita Hayes of Milton, WV, J.K. McAtee of WV, and Jackie Herman and husband Tom of McMurray, PA; 17 nieces and nephews, Brittany Beane of Weston, Shannon McAtee of Washington State, Ryan McAtee of Pittsburgh, PA, Marjorie McAtee of Wheeling, WV, Bruce Hewitt of Buckhannon, Sasha Bailey and Erica Haymond-Riley, both of Weston, Aaron and Adam Herman, both of Bethel Park, PA, Sean Herman of Ukiah, CA, Catherine Herman of Waynesboro, PA, Kim Hamner and Tricia Chadwick, both of Buckhannon, Kathleen Fisher, Jennifer McAtee, Corynn McAtee, and Brianne Parsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gary Hewitt; stepbrother, Paul McAtee; three brothers, Neil, Millard, and Shawn McAtee; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara McAtee and Heidimarie McAtee.
Mr. McAtee started working for Corhart when he was 18 and remained a dedicated, lifelong employee until his retirement.
Known as a jokester, he also enjoyed listening to “oldies” music, especially Glen Campbell, The Beatles, and ABBA. But most of all, Roger loved to end his evening with his nightly phone call to his friend Lee Warren.
In honoring Mr. McAtee’s wishes, he will be cremated.
