Upshur reports no increase in COVID-19 cases Monday

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Monday that 995 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

Upshur County reported no increase in cases for the first time since November. Locally, new cases were reported in Barbour (9), Lewis (8) and Randolph (9) counties.

A total of 103 cases are currently active in Upshur County, according to the DHHR, and the county remains red on the alert map. Monday’s update:

  • Added two confirmed cases to Dec. 20
  • Removed one confirmed case from Dec. 19
  • Removed one case from an unknown date

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – 93-year old male from Wayne County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of December 21, 2020, there have been 1,396,471 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 73,337 total cases and 1,129 deaths,” according to a press release.

About 22,877 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 49,331 people have recovered and 1,129 have died. The daily percent positive was 7.19%.
