A Morgantown worker was killed and two others were taken to the hospital after a malfunctioning crane knocked them off an Interstate 79 bridge Tuesday, according to a press release from the West Virginia State Police.
The worker who died was identified as Mickey W. Swisher, 30. Senior Trooper N.E. McDougal responded to the accident at mile marker 142.5 about 9:45 a.m. and determined that a heavy crane malfunction caused concrete barriers to strike the three workers, knocking them from the bridge.
Swisher’s next of kin was notified at the scene, the release said.
