Buckhannon-Upshur ranks 14th in the Week 4 WVSSAC Class AAAA football playoff ratings with a 1-3 record, placing it among the 16 teams currently in playoff position. The team is off this week before hosting Fairmont Senior on Oct. 2.
West Virginia Wesleyan quarterback Liam McGuire earned MEC Offensive Player of the Week honors after throwing four touchdowns in a 28-23 win over West Virginia State, the Bobcats’ first conference victory since 2022.
A Morgantown worker was killed and two others were taken to a hospital after a crane malfunction on an Interstate 79 bridge September 22.
West Virginia businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters affected by the July 21–22 storms have until Oct. 3 to apply for low-interest SBA physical damage loans. Eligible applicants can borrow for repairs, replacement and storm-mitigation upgrades.
Charleston Girl Scouts Morgan White and Laurel Schmalzer earned the Silver Award after spending 68 hours planning, funding and building community picnic tables. Their project received a $500 city grant and was completed in July 2026.
