My Buckhannon is proud to present another year of the Hank Ellis All-Stars. Each week, we will select a male and female athlete at Buckhannon-Upshur who has had an exemplary week on the basketball court, swimming pool or wrestling mat.

Our Hank Ellis All-Stars for the week of Dec. 27 – Jan. 4 are Mallory Hughes and Jerin Westfall.

Hughes is a senior on the Buckhannon-Upshur swim team. She had the top two individual finishes for the Lady Bucs at the MoHawk Invitational, taking second in the 50-yard freestyle (25.94) and third in the 100-yard freestyle (1:01.22). She was also part of the 200 and 400-yard freestyle teams that had top-five finishes.

Westfall is a senior on the Buccaneer basketball team. During a perfect 3-0 run for the Bucs in the Ram Hardwood Tournament with wins over Central Woodstock, Luray and Lancaster, Westfall was nearly unstoppable in the three games. He had a double-double with 31 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Central Woodstock, tallied 20 points and seven rebounds in a victory over Luray and scored 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a win over Lancaster. For the tournament, he averaged 25.7 points per game.
