BUCKHANNON, W.Va. —The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur is supporting the Rotary International float in the 2022 Rose Parade to be held on New Year’s day in Pasadena, California.

The 2022 Rose Parade marks the 42nd consecutive year the Rotary Rose Parade Float Committee has spearheaded Rotary’s representation in America’s New Year Celebration. The theme for this year’s parade is Dream, Believe, Achieve” celebrating education’s ability to open doors, open minds and change lives.  The focus on education aligns with one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus, Basic Education and Literacy.

The float will have a sixteen-foot-tall owl that embodies both the spirit of self-improvement and Rotary’s determination to make the tools of education available to everyone in every land. Books, a quill pen and a hybrid apple/globe symbolize the importance of education throughout the world.

The Rotary Club of Buckhannon-Upshur is part of a network of more than 35,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide committed to providing service to others, promoting integrity and advancing goodwill and peace.
