Strawberry Festival selects Junior Royalty Court

BUCKHANNON — Madison Burnside earned the right to reign over the West Virginia Strawberry Festival’s Junior Royalty Court Saturday.

The Junior Royalty Pageant took place Saturday, April 24 at The Way of Holiness Church, with a total of 18 members — with ages ranging from four to 13 years — emerging as titleholders.

Madison Burnside captured the title in the Queen Division, as well as the honor of being named Most Photogenic. She will be accompanied by First Maid Regan Faith Sisk and Second Maid Isabella Kelley. Other participants in the Queen Division included Raney Hayhurst, Katelyn Howes, Ava Brianne Lynch, Savannah Martin and Erica Trader.

In the 10 to 11-year-old girls age group, Tatum Noel Hulver was tapped as Princess and Most Photogenic, while Liliana Delaney was named First Maid and Taylor Mackenzie Lynch was selected as Second Maid.

Princess Alexis Terranova emerged victorious in the eight to nine-year-old girls age group, while Karly Hilliard was selected as First Maid, and Madison Paige Cutright claimed the titles of Second Maid and Most Photogenic. Other participants in that age group included Lilleigh George, Janessa Smith and Ella Whitehair.

Cooper Crews was crowned Prince and Most Photogenic in the eight to nine-year-old boys age group.

Princess Ava Beth Hinkle reigned over the six to seven-year-old girls age group, while Tegwin Louise McMillan was selected as First Maid and Miss Photogenic. Second Maid Harper Crews and Chloe Rae Bruce also competed in that division.

Princess Avery Glaspell won the four to five-year-old girls age group, while Brynn Smith earned the First Maid title and Jayleeigh McCune won the Miss Photogenic, Strawberry Spirit and Second Maid titles. Shaylyn Dawn McClure also competed in the division.

In the four to five-year-old boys division, Foster Crews was crowned Prince and Most Photogenic, while Keaton Hilliard was named First Page and winner of the Strawberry Spirit awards.

The next WVSF event is the Berry Bandit Poker Run, slated to start at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Ireland Community Building in Lewis County. The 79th annual festival officially kicks off Thursday, May 13 and runs through Sunday, May 16. For the full schedule of events, click here or visit the festival’s website.
