ELKINS, W.Va – The West Virginia Wesleyan (1-6, 1-4) women’s soccer team fell to Davis & Elkins (4-2, 3-2) on Wednesday (Sept. 21) afternoon.
D&E struck first in the 10th minute when Alexa Karsel scored an unassisted goal. The Senators outshot the Lady Bobcats 17-3 in the first frame. Ally Moore kept the Senators in check and made six saves in the opening half. Davis & Elkins led after one half of play, 1-0.
The Senators scored the game’s second goal in the 46th minute to go up two goals. Sachiko Gamo assisted Nao Kawasaki for her second goal of the season to pad the lead for the Senators. WVWC managed to fire two shots on target in the second half and tallied more shots on goal than the Senators in the second half. WVWC could not get on the scoreboard and D&E took the match by a score of 2-0.
The Lady Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday (Sept. 25) at Fairmont State. Kickoff is set at 1 p.m.
