TENNERTON – In a defensive battle, the Buckhannon-Upshur soccer Lady Bucs and the Bridgeport Indians battled to a 0-0 deadlock in a Big 10 Conference battle Tuesday evening at the high school.
The Lady Bucs did win the battle of the stat sheet, owning a 5-2 margin in corner kicks and a 4-0 lead in corner kicks.
“We played extremely well defensively in all positions and did not give them room to make anything happen,” stated Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Piacente. “I was very happy with the intensity and effort given by our team tonight. It was a hard-fought game until the end.”
Buckhannon-Upshur was guilty of 14 fouls while Bridgeport was only called for two, but their coaching staff picked up a yellow card.
B-U keeper Kyndal Davis made two saves while Bridgeport goalie stopped two five shots.
The tie left Bridgeport with a 7-4-5 mark and B-U with an 8-5-3 record.
The Lady Bucs will be back on the pitch Thursday at Lewis County for a conference outing with a 5:30 p.m. start.
