Soccer Bobcats tumble on the road at Notre Dame, 2-1

SOUTH EUCLID (Ohio) — The West Virginia Wesleyan College men suffered a tough loss, 2-1, Wednesday when they traveled to Notre Dame College in Ohio to take on the No. 2 team in the Mountain East Conference.

After going down a goal in the 30th minute by Carlos Almeida, the Bobcats entered Max Evans in the 38th minute and he tied the score on a far post smash from the right wing three minutes later.

Back-and-forth possession continued through the second half until the 63rd minute when a deep Notre Dame ball down the left side was crossed to the middle of the 6-yard box. Unfortunately, an attempted clearing pass by defender Jaime Razo rolled into the net for the eventual game-winner.

The Bobcats remain in fourth place in the conference with 17 points and two conference matches remaining, both at home. West Liberty University comes to Buckhannon Sunday, Oct. 29 for a 4 p.m. start and Davis & Elkins visits Culpepper Stadium for the season finale on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
