Soccer Bobcats down Point Park in 2-1 win

The Wesleyan men’s soccer team defeated Point Park University 2-1 on the closing day of homecoming activities in Buckhannon Sunday.

Two Bobcats scored their first goals of the year. Adam Gribben received a ball down the right wing, juked a defender out of position and hit the hard-angle near post shot at 12:13 to put the ‘Cats up 1-0

Archie Farquhar knocked in his first goal of the season after receiving a set play cross to the left side far post from Dillon Rajkovic. The ball dropped directly into open space just a couple of yards from the diving Point Park keeper David Ali.

Five minutes later, the Pioneers drew within a goal when a pair of touches by Point Park’s Fridolin Gefrorer and Nathan Lastreto. The ball was sent toward an open net when Wesleyan defender Moises Moncada attempted to clear but knocked the ball across the goal line.

Wesleyan keeper James Docherty had three saves in 90 minutes of work.

The Bobcats end a four-game home stand at Culpepper Stadium with Wheeling University who visits Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 4:30 p.m.
