Presentation on Unmanned Aircraft Usage in Forestry Coming to GSC

Glenville, WV – Rodger Ozburn, an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Program Manager for the West Virginia Division of Forestry, will be at Glenville State College on Thursday, September 26 at 12:15 p.m. for a presentation titled “Foresters Taking Flight.” The presentation will take place in room 227/228 of the Waco Center and is free and open to the public.

Foresters Taking Flight is an overview of the WV Division of Forestry and their UAS program. Ozburn will facilitate a discussion on the development of the UAS program for the WV Division of Forestry, issues, current operations, and future technology.

Unmanned aircraft systems, also known as drones, have been increasingly utlizied by foresters for a number of reasons, including to view and assess remote areas or to work in conditions that would be hazardous to personnel. Across the country, UAS usage for land management purposes has become more popular as technology becomes more available, user-friendly, and affordable.
