Buckhannon City Hall announces public meetings, services, events and reminders, including a Consolidated Public Works Board meeting, yard waste collection, Friday farmers market, upcoming festivals, a $33 million water plant project FAQ, and community event schedules.

All meetings, unless specified otherwise, are open to the public and will take place in the Council Chambers at Buckhannon City Hall, located at 70 E Main St, Buckhannon, WV 26201.

  • Yard Waste Collection for City Residents – Yard Waste (debris) will be collected from City of Buckhannon residents. Residents must contact Buckhannon City Hall to be placed on the collection list. City residents may take their bagged yard waste (debris) to the Transfer Station during regular operating hours at no charge, and may bring up to two truckloads per year, also at no charge.
  • Farmers Market in Jawbone Park: The Farmers Market will offer fresh produce and popular local items every Friday beginning at 2:30 p.m., in Jawbone Park now through Friday, October 31st.

  • September 28, 2025 – Gold Star Mothers’ Rose Garden Dedication & Luncheon at Jawbone Park from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.
  • October 18, 2025 – Harvest Festival & Chili Cook-off hosted by Moon Flower, 46 East Main Street, Buckhannon, WV. Enjoy crafts, flowers, homemade goods, and thrift items. They will showcase chili made from 10+ local restaurants.
  • November 27, 2025 – Upshur County Recreational Complex will hold a 5K, beginning in Jawbone Park at 7:30 a.m.
  • December 14, 2025 – Annual Menorah Lighting in Jawbone Park at 7:00 p.m.

  • Lawn care needs to be performed weekly
  • Keep grass clippings out of the street as they can block stormwater drains and cause flooding. When mowing, always blow the grass away from the street.
  • Trash cans should be hidden from public view as much as possible during the week; place them at the curb the night before collection, and return them within 24 hours after collection.
