Jewell Rodney Ware

Jewell Rodney Ware, lovingly known as Rod Ware, age 84, passed away on November 1, 2024, at Mountain Memories in Elkins, West Virginia. He was born July 11, 1940, in Cox’s Mills, Gilmer County, WV, the first-born son of Jewell Ware and Ida Belle (Adams) Ware.

In addition to his parents, Rod was predeceased by: Judith Ann “Judi” (Davis) Ware, his wife, Roger “Keith” Ware, his brother, Jewell Rodney “J.R.” Ware, Jr., his son, and Cynthia “Cindy” Ware, his daughter. He is survived by his sons, Steve Ware and his wife, Bette Ware of Tornado, WV; Roy Glenn Kiddy and his wife, Mary Kiddy of Mississippi; Duane Fowler and his wife Kimberly Fowler of California; Morgan Ware and his wife, Bethany Ware of Ellamore, WV; his daughters, Celeste Oyler and her husband, Keith Oyler of Ohio; and Bekki Ware of Clarksburg, WV. He also is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he held close to his heart.

He was a proud Navy Veteran who served his country. He found joy in spending time with his family and especially reveled in his hunting and fishing trips with his sons and grandsons. He was an avid gardener, baker, quilter, reader, music lover, show dog Dad, jack of all trades, and dear friend to many.

His family would like to thank the staff and his friend, Joyce Hansen, at Mountain Memories in Elkins, WV, for the excellent care he received there.

Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated, and the family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
