UPDATE — Officials from the City of Buckhannon and the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management said that Christopher James Chenoweth, previously reported as a missing and endangered person, has been located alive.
Chenoweth was found Friday in Randolph County, where responding units safely contacted him. He is currently with the West Virginia State Police, who are coordinating next steps and ensuring his well-being.
ORIGINAL STORY — Officials from the City of Buckhannon Police Department and the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management are conducting a coordinated search for Christopher James Chenoweth, who has been reported missing and endangered.
Chenoweth is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 185 pounds, with blue eyes. According to the report, he was last seen on foot near 160 Camden Avenue, wearing a gray/black T-shirt and gray shorts. The originating notice indicates that the subject may be experiencing a mental health crisis; therefore, the public should exercise caution if they encounter him.
Agencies actively engaged in search operations and information tracking include the City of Buckhannon Police Department, the City of Buckhannon Fire Department, the Upshur County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department, the West Virginia State Police, the West Virginia Division of Forestry and the Upshur County CERTS.
Residents with any information about Chenoweth’s whereabouts or who believe they may have seen him are urged to contact the Upshur County 911 Center’s non-emergency line at 304-472-9550.
