Gale Lee Marple

Gale Lee Marple, 79, of Buckhannon, W.Va., died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at home.

He was born June 10, 1939, in Weston, W.Va., a son of the late Adrain C. and Ruby D. Radabaugh Marple.

On Oct. 28, 1978 he married Shirley Snyder who survives. Also surviving are two sons, David W. Marple and wife Joni of Buckhannon and Clyde McCloud of Salem, W.Va.; four daughters, Cheryl D. Burke and husband Max of Fairmont, W.Va., Sheila Minick of Umatilla, Fla., Eleanor Strakel and husband Bobby of Grafton, W.Va. and Deborah Hileman and husband Mark of Tyrone, Ga.; seven grandsons, Daniel Marple and wife Ashley, Dalton Marple and Joshua Wilfong all of Buckhannon, Dustin Marple of Elkins, W.Va., Travis Wilfong of Clarksburg, W.Va., Steven Hileman and wife Jordan of Macon, Ga. and Ty Walker McCloud of Salem; five granddaughters, Kimberly Hileman of Warner Robbins, Ga., Valerie and  Mackenzie Swiger both of Grafton, W.Va., Brittany Riffle of Philippi, W.Va. and Katlyn McCloud of Salem and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Marple.

Mr. Marple served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was production foreman at Moore Business Forms in Buckhannon and later co-owner of Marple Construction along with his son David for several years. Gale was a heavy Equipment Operator for Barbour Coal Co. from which he retired.

He enjoyed his time reading and studying the Bible, hunting and camping.

Friends will be received Monday, April 22, 2019 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Dr. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
