A driver died Monday afternoon after his work truck veered off US Route 33, went through the median, across the opposite lanes of traffic, and down an embankment into a stream, according to a press release from the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, April 14, 2025, at approximately 1:23 p.m., deputies responded to a 911 call of a single-vehicle crash on US Route 33.
The vehicle was traveling westbound before entering the median, crossing over into the eastbound lane, striking the guardrail, and rolling over the embankment, coming to a rest in a stream. When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a 2012 Dodge 2500 pickup truck over an embankment that had suffered heavy damage. The 2012 Dodge was owned by United Contracting Inc. of Buckhannon.
The driver, Daniel Lynn Carson, age 50, of Buckhannon, was deceased as a result of the crash. US Route 33 was shut down to traffic traveling east for an extended period of time so the vehicle could be recovered. This is an ongoing investigation.
Troopers from the Buckhannon and Elkins detachments of the West Virginia State Police assisted the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office with the crash investigation.
