Cole Kelley’s Firehouse Dawgs ignites excitement with grand opening

Firehouse Dawgs

BUCKHANNON — Buckhannon’s culinary scene got a tasty boost on Saturday, April 20, with the opening of Firehouse Dawgs, a new restaurant by local entrepreneur Cole Kelley. Specializing in gourmet hot dogs and other delicious treats, the turnout was so huge that the restaurant had to close early due to the high demand.

Kelley’s dream of opening his own place started early.

“I’ve always wanted to open something like this ever since I can remember, ever since I was in my parents’ snack bars during sports as a kid,” Kelley said.

Finally, the right time came and Kelley made his dream a reality. But getting ready for opening day wasn’t easy, especially renovating the restaurant, which is located on W. Main Street in Buckhannon, just past the entrance to St. Joseph’s Hospital. Kelley and his dad did all the work themselves.

“It’s been a long process, but I’ve learned a lot,” Kelley said.

Despite the hard work, Kelley is thrilled to be part of the restaurant community and to meet new people. The soft opening the day before the grand opening went well, and the big Saturday was even better than expected.

“The turnout was great, and everything worked out way better than expected,” Kelley said.

One of the visitors on opening day was Madison Rhodes, who loved the hand-dipped corn dogs.

“The homemade batter was delicious,” Rhodes said. “I love to see a new, clean and inviting restaurant option in Buckhannon. Definitely will be a new lunch spot for me!”

With its successful start, Firehouse Dawgs looks set to be a hit with locals and visitors alike. Visit the restaurant at 539 W. Main Street in Buckhannon or call 304-516-1899.
