Elaine M. Hager, 96, of Buckhannon, WV, passed away on September 5, 2026. She is remembered for her devotion to faith and family, warm smile, hospitality, and positive outlook.

Betty Jean Howes, 97, of Upshur County, passed away at home on September 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted homemaker and longtime member of Indian Camp Church.

Buckhannon-Upshur seeks its first win Friday at Nicholas County in its third straight road game. The Bucs must protect the football, shore up their run defense and manage their limited depth against the 1-0 Grizzlies.

Liam Davis shot a team-best 45 as Buckhannon-Upshur placed third with a 199 at Bridgeport Country Club. Bridgeport won with a 158, while Alexander Randolph earned low-medalist honors with a 37.

First Community Bank opened fourth-quarter play atop the Bob Cupp Memorial Golf League standings after defeating Feola’s Flowers, 29½–10½. Danny Hinzman led the way with Low Actual honors at 37 and Low Net honors at 29.

Buckhannon-Upshur sophomore Emma Pingley shot a 91 to place 17th among 63 golfers at the WVSSAC Girls Golf Invitational. She improved six spots from last year’s state debut despite struggling off the tee.
