Buckhannon-Upshur’s girls wrestling team proved it’s among the state’s elite as Lylah Ketterman, Olivia Blonn and Abby Radabaugh captured individual state titles. The Lady Bucs finished second overall with 114 points, just behind champion Washington’s 124.

Buckhannon-Upshur jumped out early but couldn’t sustain it, falling to Hurricane 52-36 in the South Region opener after a rough second quarter and a decisive third-quarter run. Allie Key led B-U with 11 points as the Lady Bucs closed the season 5-17.
Buckhannon-Upshur finished eighth in the final regular-season WVSACA Class AAAA coaches’ poll after a 1-1 week, falling by one to No. 2 Morgantown before beating rival Lewis County. The Bucs are 14-8 and open South Regional Tournament play Friday.

Jerin Westfall and Brody McDaniels powered Buckhannon-Upshur past rival Lewis County 59-54 in the regular-season finale, despite leading for just 52 seconds through three quarters. Westfall posted 26 points and 14 rebounds as the Bucs’ 9-0 fourth-quarter run sealed it.
Buckhannon-Upshur was surprisingly voted the No. 8 seed in the Class AAAA South Region and will host No. 9 Parkersburg in Friday’s 7 p.m. play-in game. The winner advances to face top-seeded, state No.
No events are scheduled Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, but the week heats up with basketball on Wednesday and Friday, plus a full slate Saturday and Sunday.

WVSSAC has released the Class AAAA girls’ regional playoff brackets, with Buckhannon-Upshur earning the No. 10 seed in the South Region. The Lady Bucs travel to No. 7 Hurricane on Feb. 27 in a single-elimination opener.
