The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources announced Sunday that 178 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the Mountain State.

One additional death has been attributed to the disease, according to the DHHR – an 81-year old female from Logan County.

“The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources reports as of 10 a.m., September 13, 2020, there have been 483,468 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 12,699 total cases and 266 deaths,” according to a press release.

The red and orange counties on the alert map were unchanged: Monongalia County remains red, while Pocahontas, Kanawha, Cabell, Calhoun, Ohio, Monroe, Putnam, Fayette, Wayne, Boone, Logan and Mingo counties are orange.

New cases were reported Sunday in Barbour, Berkeley, Cabell, Fayette, Greenbrier, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, Marion, Marshall, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monongalia, Monroe, Nicholas, Ohio, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane, Tucker, Wayne, Wirt, Wood and Wyoming counties.

About 3,143 West Virginia cases remain active, according DHHR data. Of the cases that are no longer active, 9,289 people have recovered and 267 have died. The daily percent positive was 3.2%.
