Clyde Richard Barger

Clyde Richard Barger, 70, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, November 13, 2019, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. 

He was born October 30, 1949, in Jacksonville, Florida a son of the late Richard Andrew and Katie Comstock Barger.  He was united in marriage on July 20, 1973, to Nancy Ann Alkire Barger who survives. 

In addition to his father and mother, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter Ella Waweru and one brother Cecil Andrew Barger. 

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by five sons:  Eric Barger and wife Kari of Ohio, Adam Barger and wife Kari of Morgantown, Matthew Barger and wife Tara of Buckhannon, Tyler Barger and fiancée Toni Shreve of Buckhannon, and Alexander Barger and wife Mariah of Morgantown; two daughters:  Jennifer and husband Kumar Lambert of Elkins and Teresa and husband Raphael Waweru of Baltimore; eighteen grandchildren; and one sister Dottie Donahue of Monroe, N.C.

Clyde was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War, and was retired after 26 years of service with the Fred Eberle Technical Center, where he started the CDL program.  Following his retirement, he was employed by Upshur County Head Start as a bus driver for eleven years. 

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and video gaming.  He was a very devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served as a Bishop at one time.  

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, from 4-8 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 179 S. Kanawha St., Buckhannon, WV. 

A funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at 10 a.m., at the church, with Bishop Ron Hinkle officiating.  Interment will follow in the Upshur County Memorial Park, where the Upshur County Honor Guard will conduct graveside honors.
