McDaniels has 18 for JV Bucs in 62-47 loss to Indians

BRIDGEPORT – The Buckhannon-Upshur junior varsity Bucs fell behind in the first quarter and were forced to play catch-up the rest of the way in a  62-47 setback to the homestanding Bridgeport Indians Friday night.

The Bucs went down after one quarter by a 15-8 score with Jacob Frye scoring three points, Brody McDaniels, Xavier Robinette two each and Damion White one for B-U.

The two teams battled to a 13-13 tie in the second quarter with Seth Allen scoring five, White and McDaniels each popping in a trey and Kaiden Marks getting one basket.

That left the Bucs down by a 28-21 score at the half.

Buckhannon-Upshur lost the third quarter by a 16-11 count with Frye scoring four, McDaniels three, Robinette and Brody Jeran two each.

B-U trailed by a 44-32 score heading into the fourth quarter.

The Bucs dropped the fourth quarter by an 18-15 score with McDaniels pouring in 11 points, while White had four.

Carson Currey led Bridgeport with 14 points.

McDaniels led all scorers with 18 points for the Bucs.

The loss dropped the Bucs to 5-6 on the year.

They will be back in action Wednesday hosting Lewis County at 5:45 p.m.
