Weston man arrested for third-offense driving revoked for DUI

William P. White

BUCKHANNON – A Lewis County man was arrested after allegedly driving while his license was revoked for DUI.

William P. White, 40, of Weston, was arrested Thursday for driving revoked for DUI third offense, a felony.

According to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s Office filed by Patrolman James Fisher with the Buckhannon Police Department on May 19, 2022, Fisher had prior knowledge that White’s driver’s license was suspended for driving revoked DUI.

According to the report, he found a 2004 Hyundai with an Ohio registration tag. Fisher then performed a traffic stop on the vehicle on Cleveland Avenue “for an investigatory stop for a crime that just occurred,” the complaint says. A driver’s license check was performed, confirming White’s license was revoked for DUI. White had previous conviction dates of Jan. 9, 2019, and Sept. 26, 2019.

Upshur County Magistrate Mark Davis set bail at $5,000 cash only.

The potential penalty for driving revoked for DUI third offense is confinement in a state correctional facility for not less than one year nor more than three years and, in addition to the mandatory prison sentence, a fine ranging between $3,000 and $5,000.
