WVWC’s Cash earns MEC Indoor Track & Field Honors

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan’s Samantha Cash and Wheeling’s Moses Koroma were named this week’s Mountain East Conference Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week.

The MEC Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Cash, a junior from Denton, Md., won the Pentathlon at this week’s Youngstown Mid-Major Invitational with a score of 3,438. The score hit an NCAA provisional mark and currently ranks first in the MEC and 23rd in the nation.

Koroma, a junior from Woodbridge, Va., hit an NCAA provisional mark with a time of 7.89 seconds in the 60-meters hurdles over the weekend at the Youngstown Mid-Major Invitational. The performance ranks in the top five in the nation in the 60-meter hurdles event. Koroma also ran a leg of Wheeling’s 4×400 relay, which finished first at the event with a time of 3:18.17.
